Depression And Anxiety

Depression commonly manifests physically through stomach pains, headaches, disrupted or excessive sleep patterns just to state a few symptoms.  While the causes of depression could be related to many different reasons, hidden predisposing factors can be triggered by trauma and adverse life circumstances.  Depression is diagnosed more frequently in women and tends to display differently in women than in men.  However, a lot of men seldom want to admit that they are struggling with depression.  Also, depression can be biologically chemical, where medication from a medical specialist could be recommended and prescribed for stabilization.  Depression is a real medical condition and the manifestations can branch out into a counterproductive web that surrounds a person's life.

When depression and anxiety are coupled together, both symptoms often exacerbate each other and people who experience both, commonly have difficulty concentrating on tasks and conversations.  Some people shut down and isolate themselves from others, and some people abuse alcohol and drugs or overeat as a way of coping, causing them to develop other medical conditions and problems.  Depressed people are also at increased risk for self-harm and harming others.  It can be a frightening experience and can also be fatal if untreated.

Depression is a mental illness which is characterized by prolonged emotional symptoms including:

  • Apathy
  • Sadness
  • Guilt
  • Exhaustion
  • Irritability
  • Isolation
  • Suppressed Anger

Diagnosing depression involves a psychiatric evaluation and sometimes involves a medical work up of tests to determine whether a person’s symptoms are actually being caused by a different mental disorder or medical condition.  A person must have been experiencing symptoms for an extended period of time to be diagnosed with depression.  Every case is unique and requires individual attention, but there are a number of effective complementary ways of treating depression and anxiety therapy including:

  • Talk therapy
  • Medication
  • Adopting a healthier and reconstructed lifestyle

Additionally,  anxiety, like depression, is also a real psychological disorder and can be very paralyzing to a persons life.  Besides being a true disorder and depending on the individual, unhealthy situations resulting from from poor decisions in life can set up a person for unnecessary and ongoing anxiety.  Individuals may try to navigate through life with their own coping strategies to avoid treatment for Anxiety Therapy, which can delay living a more productive and successful life.  The impact of anxiety can also hinder close relationships to thrive. Thoughts and feelings of discouragement, loneliness and unresolved fears can cause a person to insulate as well as isolated themselves from those who care about them.  A person may limit their life in fear of facing situations.  Also, there can be a hidden history of feeling defeated, frustration, low self worth, unproductive decisions, and the fear of loosing control of situations.  With these ongoing thoughts and feelings, individuals can feel very trapped in life.

Anxiety Therapy is a great life saver.  In a nurturing, safe and supportive environment, a person can discover, identify and understand their specific pathology to create change for themselves for their future.  Results can lead to:

  • Productive state of mind.
  • Facing life without fears
  • Healthy control
  • Being realistic about probabilities
  • Experience more personal contentment
  • Living in the present moment
  • Positive attitude and outlook
  • Establishing and maintaining successful relationships
  • Feeling accomplished in both short and long term goals

Anxiety Therapy has been the key for many people suffering with anxiety, which is separate, but at times linked with depression.  In some cases one disorder feeds the other, but symptoms from both disorders can be reduced and addressed at the same time, while redirecting one's life into a positive direction.
